It's hard to believe, but today marks one year since I took the leap and opened my little paper art shop, Book Birdies! What started as a passion project creating custom printed journals has blossomed into an ever-evolving adventure in discovering the magic of paper.
Over this past year, I've fallen more and more in love with transforming humble materials into beautiful, unique pieces of art. From upcycling old book pages, to learning the intricate art of quilling, to handcrafting my own paper for journals and artwork - each new technique has been an exciting journey of creativity and self-discovery.
One of the biggest joys has been sharing my paper creations with others at art shows around the Austin area. Meeting fellow artists and collectors, and seeing how my work resonates with people has been incredibly fulfilling. Your support and kind words have inspired me to keep exploring and push my skills further.
Some of my favorite pieces from this first year include the floral quilled earrings, and the handmade journals bound with upcycled fabrics. Envisioning a design and then patiently bringing it to life with meticulous papercraft is such a meditative, rewarding process.
As I look ahead, I can't wait to see what other paper possibilities await. I have so many fresh ideas swirling for unique journals, greeting cards, home decor accents and more! The beauty of paper art is that the potential is truly limitless.
